Animals for adoption: Luce's story

Hi, I'm Luce the lamb — you can adopt me remotely!

I am the first rescued guest of the Sotto la Panca Sanctuary, and today I am one of the animals for adoption that you can support with a concrete gesture. And, thanks to me (and my sweetness!), my two mothers, Carmen and Patrizia, decided to look for land to buy to provide me with brothers and sisters. I am a very sociable animal and I need other lambs to play with as soon as possible!

Between us, I'll confess something: my life didn't start in the best way.

I was only a few days old when I was torn from my mother because I was too weak and had little chance of survival. I was entrusted to a goat… but not out of love. 

The idea was to watch me grow and get fat, so they could sell and butcher me for Easter lunch — as happened to my brother.

That could have been the end of my story.

But someone found me in time.

Touched by my fragility and my strength, Carmen and Patrizia took me in their arms and brought me to safety. The goat that was nursing me became my adoptive mother. Our bond was immediate, pure, and beautiful.

Today, I live a serene life full of love.

And my story started it all.

📖 Luce's story: from slaughter to sanctuary

Luce was born small and fragile. The farmer who birthed her immediately rejected her — too weak to be worth anything. Instead of taking care of her, he entrusted her to a shepherd who had a lactating goat.

But it was not a gesture of compassion.

The goal was to keep her alive just long enough to fatten her up and then sell and slaughter her for Easter, as had already happened to her brother.

Fortunately, we arrived first.

We welcomed Luce, protected her, and promised her a new life. The goat who cared for her like a true mother remained by her side. Their bond moved everyone who saw it.

Luce is the first life saved at the Sotto la Panca Sanctuary.

Thanks to her, this place was born — where animals are no longer seen as food, but as lives to protect.
