🐶 Nina's Story: From a Serious Accident to a Forever Home

Nina: The Story of a Rescued and Loved Tripod Dog

There are stories that break your heart.

And then there are stories like Nina's, which, despite the pain and fear, continue to remind us how much animals are still capable of trusting humans.

Today Nina is safe.

But her journey to a peaceful life has been long and painful.

The night everything changed

Nina was found in Catania during the night of Cyclone Henry.

Two young people saw her on the ground, hit by a car while being chased by other dogs.

They could have turned away.

Instead, they stopped.

Nina was immobile, terrified, with a severe pulmonary hemorrhage and a severely damaged leg.

She was rushed to a veterinary clinic, where she received initial life-saving care.

The first recovery

After hospitalization, Nina was temporarily welcomed into the home of one of the founding members of Sotto La Panca ODV.

There she slowly began to recover.

But her journey was not yet over.

💔 A new trauma

Nina was subsequently transferred to a facility that had agreed to host her.

However, something went wrong.

Scared and still fragile, Nina reacted by biting another dog.

From that moment on, she was isolated in a closed space.

Unfortunately, her leg situation was very serious.

As a result of the initial trauma suffered in the accident, Nina no longer had feeling in her front limb and could not use it properly.

In an attempt to free herself and due to the motor difficulties related to this condition, she sustained a deep laceration to her leg, further aggravating an already compromised situation.

After careful veterinary evaluation, the only possible solution to ensure her a good quality of life and avoid further suffering was the amputation of the limb.

🐾 Nina today

Today Nina is a tripod dog, but this will not prevent her from living a full, serene, and loved life.

Despite everything she has been through, she continues to show an extraordinary will to live.

She is facing recovery with courage and patience.

And most importantly, she has finally found a forever home.

Nina's future at the Sanctuary

At the Sotto la Panca Sanctuary, we want to offer her what every animal deserves:

  • a safe place,
  • veterinary care,
  • time to heal,
  • people who respect her,
  • a life without fear.

For Nina, we are preparing a protected and quiet area, designed for her needs as a tripod dog.

This time no one will leave her behind.
